Hitting the road for work doesn’t have to be stressful. Here’s how to ease the load.

Have a go-to piece of luggage

There’s already enough to consider when it comes to business travel, and your luggage really doesn’t need to be one of them. Whether you’re a carry-on or check-in kind of person (we’d highly recommend the former), it pays to have a sturdy, reliable suitcase that can go with you wherever, whenever – no matter the type of trip you’re taking. Trust us, those bags on the pricier end of the scale? Worth it in the long-run.

Plan your travel schedule to suit your lifestyle

Travel can take its toll on the body and affects everyone in different ways, so if possible, have a little flexibility with your flight plans so you can be on your A-game. If you prefer to get acquainted with a new city before diving into business, plan to fly in a night earlier to allow time to settle. Or maybe you’re a morning person? Enjoy another night in your own bed and catch an early flight the next day instead.

Sign-up to an airline loyalty program

If frequent business travel is on the cards, sign up to an airline loyalty program – you’ll be able to rack up the miles needed to unlock plenty of premium perks that come with a higher membership status. In fact, lounge access, upgrades, requests to fly ahead and more are just some of the benefits you can enjoy as a Velocity member with Status. Once you’re part of a program, don’t forget to get acquainted with what you have access to – and start enjoying the perks of being a frequent flyer.

Streamline your documents

From hotel and transport bookings to your flight and meeting schedules, keeping tabs on everything – especially in a new environment – can be overwhelming. So. Many. Confirmation. Emails! Thankfully, it’s 2019, and there’s plenty of apps out there that can help streamline your travel, so everything you need to know is in one place.

Remember to rest

Travelling inevitably brings with it some setbacks. Your flight could be delayed or cancelled, and schedules may shift. And being on the clock, it’s natural to feel like you have to be always on. While we’re not suggesting you go off the grid, if some downtime does present itself – by way of said delays or cancellations – feel free to take a mental break. Explore some local sights, do some exercise and let your mind wander – you’ll feel refreshed and in turn, more productive.
